You've posted several videos of Run DMC which often reminds me of how talented they were. Did you ever think that Run DMC as large as they were to us, would not get the respect they deserve at this present time in life? Any body from that era I'm talking early 80's hip hop either rocked Run DMC,wanted to be like Run DMC,well you catch my drift. They were hip hop for the most part of 84 to about 87 or 88 they owned it.What some may call ABC rhymes now weren't so ABC then. They just sounded so damn good together Jay, Dee and Run were very talented and this showed it 4 real.

Thanx for this unique clip! Great rhymes and great graffiti (anybody know who made it?) Also fun to see JMJ rap on these clips. DMC (and JMJ of course) are indeed the men from the era Oldskool4real talks about. It's a bit strange that their peers didn't like them much and now the "new" guys don't give them the respect they earn. I guess that proofs that nobody really can do as good as they can/could. And JMJ was unique in his way of complementing their rhymes with his cuts (although I have to admit that Joe Cooley did this perfectly too) and scratches and even better was the way he always moved the crowd with the way he pumped up the atmosphere using the mic, during live concerts.

I hear you DJ Bite but Joe Cooley popped on the scene a bit later than Run DMC they were puttin it on since about 84 you know!! Honestly I don't see a comparison because of the time frame but maybe Joe picked up a thing or two. Hip Hop artist are generally as good as the people we imulate which is a good thing in most cases. Each era had it's chosen. Joe Cooley was nice was his but so was a lot of others at that particular time.Run DMC were the only ones doing what they do and couldn't nobody top it, Whodini, jeckyll and Hyde and a couple others that were puttin it down were no where close. These guys changed the way we did hi hop 4 real. Groups like Ultra Magnetic EPMD to name a few popped on the scene much later and had to come from a different angle. And EPMD had some good DJ's but none like the Jam Master. They were all on point and worked good as a cohesive unit, to me tha' what seperated them form the rest. Jay did all the right cuttin and their raps were always in perfect timing.Check out Peter Piper. As an m.c. I remember that time frame well and the talk for several years was RUN DMC they were simply the best.

I do agree DJ Bite that the ol skool doesn't pay enough homage to these guys. The new school considers them just old school artist but don't even know the half. They were trend setters and impacted hiphop big time and that is why some of the ol skool headz don't want to pay homage!I remember 86 well I was in the service at thate time and my brother said RUN DMC got anew album cming out.Sure nuff ran to the PX and bought one along with Whodini's Back in Black and Grand master Flash's the Source if that's the one with Miss Thng on it.Well anyway when I popped in Raising Hell I was like damn they done did it this time.I had my white buddie who despised rap music listening when they heard Walk this Way!!In fact I had to buy another tape cause I kept loaning out the tape and guys would never get it back when I wanted to hear it well some things don't change do they?

Raising Hell was played over and over in many cars, home systems or wherever thehell you were at, and get this Whodini's album wsn't bad either. The whole idea was that these guys were the face off Hip hop and selling a lot of records, they made it possible for the artist tody to sign huge contracts and get loads of money cause they were pretty much the first. They took hip hopp into the mainstream with a bang and still kept it gangster, don't believe me listen to live at the funhouse and Here We Go Jay killed The Big Beat which if you didn't have 1200's jumped like a mother on that bboom when it comes in. Jay controlled that jarn 4 real.

I will say this again to any one not around at that time and this will help you out for any subjects of the past. don't think of now or anything that proceeds the time frame that you are listening to understand all the limited access and equipment of that time and you can get a better picture of that time. If you are listening and looking at todays hip hop music you will get lost because it is totally different in good and bad ways.Peace

Reading is a very fresh way to learn!! That's classic from one of the best. It's a shame that sort of thing doesn't happen anymore, or does it? I don't watch many kids' shows anymore. thanks for bringing back some memories.

Olskool4real - Thank You for all your comments here and everywhere on this blog, and on BustTheFacts also. You always drop knowledge, it is just as much important, as the music itself, really. You are very informative and deep with the subject. Props.
BTW. - rhymes of Run DMC are not ABC to my mind)). They are classic and you know why. They are simple like everything that's genius. No more no less.
